Directions to Camp Barnhardt From Waxhaw, take Hwy 16 N. (Providence Rd.) to I-485 East (toward Matthews). From I-485 exit on Hwy 24/27 E. and follow to Albemarle. (Alternate directions – follow Hwy 75 from Waxhaw to Monroe, then follow signs for Hwy 200 N. then Hwy 601 N. (i.e. Skyway Blvd.). Follow 601 N. to the stoplight in Midland. Turn right on Hwy 24/27 E. and follow to Albemarle). Hwy 24/27 becomes Hwy 740 N. at a stoplight in Albemarle (you’ll see a McDonald’s on the left). Go straight through this stoplight. Follow Hwy 740 N. for about 4.5 miles to the town of Badin. You’ll see a large Alcoa plant and the edge of Badin Lake. At this point you are almost there. Cross the RR tracks, go through a yellow blinking light, then go about 1.8 more miles to another blinking light (Barnhardt Rd.). Turn right. Go about ½ mile on Barnhardt Rd., then turn left into the William C. Cannon Scout Reservation (large lighted sign there). Follow the curvy paved road to the campsite dropoff area around the flagpole. After dropping your stuff off park your car in the parking area (across from the dining hall) and walk back to the campsite. ** Note – sometimes for large events you enter Camp Barnhardt by staying straight on Barnhardt Rd. rather than turning left at the scout reservation sign. If so there will be people directing you this way. Barnhardt Rd. dead ends into the campsite dropoff area.
